Commentary on Key Town IssuesÂ
Michael DeLuca is committed to addressing the most pressing issues facing our community with common-sense solutions and long-term vision.
Housing and families
Seeking ways to encourage year-round family rental housing and real-world actions to make housing more affordable for low and moderate income households.
Infrastructure and Town Services
Maintaining and modernizing our public works and infrastructure is vital for a thriving community. By investing in continued road repairs, improved recreational opportunities, reliable water service, and efficient waste management, we ensure the safety of our neighborhoods and elevate the quality of life for every Narragansett resident. My commitment is to ensure streamlined, high-quality town services that meet your daily needs with excellence and reliability.
Heading 4
Shoreline Protection
Mitigating flood risks and protecting public assets
We must look to fortify our coastline by reinforcing dunes and structures while upgrading drainage systems to manage runoff. Through proactive infrastructure planning and responsible coastal management, we can preserve our low lying coastal areas for generations to come.
Zoning Ordinances
The incumbent Council promoted 14 revisions to zoning and comprehensive plan standards in January 2025. The sponsors asserted they were for the purpose of bringing the Town ordinances into compliance with revisions to State Law. Workshops were held only after major public outcry.  I wrote several comments defending the existing text and explaining in detail how their proposed text revisions were in error or created other non-conformance issues. These "talking points" are attached below. Please read them and draw your own conclusions.Â
My approach will be to review each original ordinance, each proposed revision and most recent state Law , then with staff guidance, suggest revisions only if necessary, to achieve compliance or clarify regulations while furthering the intentions of the Town Comprehensive Plan.
